About Us

Formerly known as the Civil Service Netball Club until September 2007, we are a premier netball club based in Plymouth and have been established in the area for over 30 years. We are affiliated to the All England Netball Association and the Plymouth & District Netball League. The Club has also been awarded GOLD Caps status. We have 3 senior teams and teams in the U16, U14, U13 and U12 categories.

The club plays at a competitive standard, with one team entered into the Premier South West Regional League and the other 2 senior teams dominating the local league's premier division.

Club History

The origin of the current Civil Service Netball Club extends back almost 30 years. The founding members belonged to Mayflower Netball Club and over the last three decades a series of sponsorship deals has resulted in numerous name changes.

Our squads can boast several major sporting achievements. The first team has been the Plymouth and District Netball premier division winners for at least 15 consecutive years. The second team has been consistent runners up in the same league over the same period of time, The recently formed third team has won yearly promotion as league winners through the Plymouth and District structure. In 1996 the club expanded and developed several junior league sides, which have also been highly successful.

The club's most significant boast is that over the last 4 years, the first team has risen from division 5 to division 4 in the All England Netball Association National League (AENA). We are the only side playing at National level in the whole of the South West region. The first team has also been yearly champions of the Western (regional) Premier league since its inception in the early 1990's. In addition the club has represented the South West region by playing yearly at Wembley on more occasions than can be remembered.

Within the club we have numerous qualified Netball Coaches whose range of experiences and skills covers the ability to coach on a local, county and regional level. One of our club members is even the current England U19 assistant coach. We have at least 16 qualified netball umpires, some of whom regularly umpire county level fixtures. Two of these umpires have gained the very top level AENA umpiring awards.

At one time or another, virtually all the individuals within the club have been selected to represent the West Devon County Squad with some even progressing on to play in regional representative sides. Finally, we have several budding young stars that are regularly asked to attend centres of excellence for Netball.
